How to make Savoury waffles with tomato salsa

  1. 1. Sieve the flour into a large bowl. Add the remaining dry ingredients (sugar, baking powder, salt) and mix.

  2. 2. Gently heat the milk on a low heat (max. 40C) and stir with a rod (or mixer on low power) to melt in the butter. Add the crumbled yeast and eggs, and mix thoroughly. Gradually pour the contents of the pan into a bowl with the dry ingredients while blending it into a uniform mass. Continue blending for another 2 minutes.

  3. 3. When the dough is ready, cover it with a cloth and set aside for 2 hours at room temperature.

  4. 4. Add the cheese, ham and pepper to the dough once it has rested. Mix and cook in the waffle iron.

  5. 5. Prepare the sauce. Pour the tinned tomatoes into a saucepan along with the juice, then add the finely diced green pepper, garlic, a pinch each of salt and pepper, and sugar. Bring to the boil, then cook uncovered for around 10 minutes, stirring frequently.
